Blog Entry: Welcome to the first-ever 'NVestorz on Monday' stock picks. Every Sunday evening, I will be publishing a list of anywhere from one to five stocks that I personally think deserve close attention on the following Monday. Keep in mind that the stocks mentioned in this blog are for informational purposes only and are not to be considered as investment advice for the buying and-or selling of stocks. Do your own research and make your own decisions. DepoMed, Inc. ( NASDAQ:DEPO ) - DEPO stock prices have been on a steady rise from 2.89 on September 1 to a close of 6.36 this past Friday. That is an impressive gain of 120.07% in just over a month. The pps for DEPO had been trending nicely through an upward channel since mid-May. The trend was interrupted when the pps gapped up on October 5 following the company's announcement of positive top-line results from Phase 3 Clinical Trial of DM-1796 in Postherpetic Neuralgia. In short, the company's pain drug met its main goal and shares of the company soared. Moving Average Price Compare DEPO is trading above its 50 day moving average. This is considered to be the sign of a bullish trend. There is added weight to this indication because the moving average is rising and suggests that there has been buying interest in this stock. MACD The MACD for DEPO currently indicates a strong bullish signal for two reasons. First, the MACD is above the signal line, a 9day moving average. Second, the MACD is above 0 which implies that the underlying moving averages are trending higher. About DepoMed, Inc. Depomed, Inc. (Depomed) is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of differentiated products that are based on oral drug delivery technologies. Depomed has developed two commercial products: GLUMETZA (metformin hydrochloride extended release tablets), which is a once-daily treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes that it commercializes in the United States with Santarus, Inc. (Santarus). ProQuin XR (ciprofloxacin hydrochloride extended release tablets), which is a once-daily treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections that Depomed commercializes in the United States with Watson Pharma (Watson). FSI International, Inc. ( NASDAQ:FSII ) - FSII stock prices have risen through a well-defined upward channel since late June. In little more than three months, the company's stock has gone from trading at 0.33 per share to a closing price this past Friday of 1.70 per share. That's a very nice gain of 415.15% in little more than three months, and it looks like there's more to be gained in the days ahead. Following news on October 6 that FSII received a U.S. Patent for ViPR+ Cleaning Technology the company's stock prices rose 6.25%. This news, combined with news on October 7 that FSII received a Follow-On Order for FSI ORION Single Wafer Cleaning Technology from a major U.S. based semiconductor manufacturer, excited investors and the price of FSII rose an additional 26.05% in one day. Moving Average Price Compare FSII is trading above its 200 day moving average. This is considered to be the sign of a bullish trend. There is added weight to this indication because the moving average is rising and suggests that there has been buying interest in this stock. MACD The MACD for FSII currently indicates a strong bullish signal for two reasons. First, the MACD is above the signal line, a 9day moving average. Second, the MACD is above 0 which implies that the underlying moving averages are trending higher. About FSI International, Inc. FSI International, Inc. Stoneridge, Inc. ( NYSE:SRI ) - SRI stock prices have been on a rise ever since KeyBanc analyst Brett D. Hoselton raised his share price target this past Wednesday from $8 to $12 because of his "increased confidence in the longer term outlook for North American commercial vehicle production". Moving Average Price Compare SRI is trading above its 200 day moving average. This is considered to be the sign of a bullish trend. There is added weight to this indication because the moving average is rising and suggests that there has been buying interest in this stock. MACD The MACD for SRI currently indicates a strong bullish signal for two reasons. First, the MACD is above the signal line, a 9day moving average. Second, the MACD is above 0 which implies that the underlying moving averages are trending higher. Bollinger Bands SRI's recent volatility has been greater than normal. This is evidenced by the increased distance between the upper and lower Bollinger Bands. These bands measure volatility using standard deviation and a large width is due to high volatility. Additionally, SRI is trading near its upper Bollinger Band. This suggests that the stock price is high relative to its recent price action. Momentum Momentum for SRI dropped off on Friday from 2.71 to 2.36 indicating that a pause may be in order for the stock's rapid rise in price. This suggests to expect a slight sell off early in the week as investors take profits, but don't expect the drop in price to be too substantial or to last for more than a day or two.
