Following the close of market, biotech stock investors were excited and filled with a new breath of reassurance for their investment holdings in Cell Therapuetics (NASDAQ:CTIC) and Hemispherx Biopharma (AMEX:HEB) today. Given a sharp boost by their inclusion today in the Russell 3000, Cell Therapeutics closed at $1.85 (+0.28 +17.83%) while Hemispherx took the stage at $2.85 (+0.45 +18.75%).

The real buzz and excitement followed after hours for Hemispherx investors. Reports of after hour trades of 380,390 shares followed only minutes behind more staggering reports of an incredible 7,599,700 share trade in Hemisherx stock. Some investors remain skeptical as to the validity of the claim that a 7.6 million share trade may have been processed after hours because it was not shown on their Level II panels. Others corroborate the claims, stating that they were able to see the trade. A review of After Hours trading for Hemispherx Biopharma at nasdaq.com did not corroborate the claim.

Large after hours investments into Hemispherx stock that were produced in the nasdaq.com report included a buy of 818,647 shares at $2.8497, 103,826 shares at $2.8491, and the previously mentioned 380,390 shares at $2.828.

These large purchases, and the rumors of even larger purchases, have fueled the fires for investors' anticipations of a possible approval early next week for Ampligen. Already five weeks into waiting on word from the FDA, Hemispherx investors have held strong, fighting off stock bashers and turning aside shorters whenever possible and by whatever means they could muster up. It has, thus far, been a tiring wait. The results of today's trading was certainly the medicine that the doctor ordered to keep them going for another stretch of time, if need be.
