The Moving Average Fluctuation Indicator Algorithm (MAFIA) is a technical indicator developed by Roy Pope (Underworlds), owner of the NVestorz.com web site. The purpose of the indicator is to detect patterns in stock charts that indicate a high probability of the stock's share price reversing direction in either a long or short-term trend.

The MAFIA is proprietary to NVestorz, meaning that the algorithm is kept secret from others. Results from scans conducted using the MAFIA will, however, oftentimes be shared with the rest of the investing community through the NVestorz website.

Many of the stocks returned by the MAFIA scans, though not all of them, normally exhibit gains of anywhere from 3% to 20% within a day to three days. As always, it is strongly advised that a stop loss order or a trailing stop be set on every purchase made in order to minimize losses.
